Undergraduate Student in Physics or closely related field in hand by start of appointment.

Brief Description of Duties
The Undergrad Student will assist the Principal Investigator André Vilela in the Department of Materials Physics at the Pernambuco Polytechnic School, University of Pernambuco. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony University of Pernambuco.

The primary purpose of this position is to learn the fundamentals of scientific research and perform independent research, in collaboration with Dr. André Vilela, the Principal Investigator (PI), on physics of complex systems, with an encouraged emphasis on agent-based models for Sociophysics and Econophysics to understand the fundamental mathematical mechanisms that drive the behavior of interacting agents, or constituents, within the complex network's framework and how their individual behavior promotes active collective phenomena in social and economic systems.

Other Functions
(1) Present results of research at local and group events, conferences and workshops.
(2) Creatively generate new ideas to approach research topics to explore; develop and implement numerical methods which allow to quantify those ideas and make theoretical predictions which can guide future observations.

The positions are for (1+2) years, with possible further extensions. The net salary (scholarship) is R$ 500,00/per month (FACEPE) or R$ 400,00/per month (PIBIC CNPq).
